LSU basketball hosts undefeated Houston on Tuesday in final game before exam break

BATON ROUGE, La., Monday, Nov. 28, 2016 – In their last game before taking a two week break for final exams, the LSU basketball team will face the undefeated Houston Cougars at 8 p.m. on Tuesday night in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

“We’re excited to be back home and we’re looking forward to another great challenge and opportunity against a tough Houston Cougars basketball team that’s gotten off to a great start,” LSU head coach Johnny Jones said.

The Tigers return home to the Maravich Center after finishing 1-2 at the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament in the Bahamas. The Tigers take a 4-2 overall record up against the Houston Cougars who sit at 5-0 after defeating Cornell 83-53 on Saturday afternoon. Houston also won three games in the Gulf Coast Showdown in Estero, Florida.

LSU went on the road to Houston last season and lost 105-98 in an overtime thriller. The Tigers hope to improve defensively and limit Houston’s Rob Gray Jr., who scored 31 points off of the bench against LSU last season.

“They have a lot of good pieces and they’re a team that I think will finish right there at the top of their conference,” Jones said.

The Tigers will have two weeks off following the game due to the concentrated study period that goes through the rest of the week and final exams beginning next Monday. They’ll return to the court with three home games beginning on Dec. 13.

Tickets are available at or at the ticket windows of the Maravich Center beginning at 6:30 p.m. prior to the game.  All LSU students will be admitted with a valid student ID. The game will also be televised on the SEC Network.

LSU students that choose to attend the game will have a chance at winning up to $1,000 for class books for the 2017 spring semester among other prizes as well. Students must download the LSU Geaux Rewards App in order to be entered in the drawing. 12 students will be selected through the app.
