Once again, presidential candidate Donald Trump, did not fail to captivate voters with the grace in which he handled delicate foreign policy issues.
On Wednesday, August 31, 2016, in a speech regarding his meeting with Mexico’s president, Enrique Peña Nieto, Trump reaffirmed his stance on immigration policy stating, “There will be no amnesty for undocumented immigration in the U.S.”. Trump is no stranger to promising stricter limits on immigration in the U.S. as it is has been a large part of his platform in the 2016 presidential race.
According to the Pew Research Center, the latest estimate of undocumented immigrants in the U.S. is 11.2 million, less than 4% of the total U.S. population. Trump promises not only to deport the 11.2 million undocumented immigrants, but to build a wall that keeps them from the crossing the border.
Furthermore, he states that Mexico will foot the bill for this incredibly expensive fence. “Mexico will pay for the wall. 100%. They don’t know it yet, but they’re going to pay for the wall”, says Trump.
“They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. Some, I assume are good people,” said Trump in regards to undocumented immigrants.
This speech was given shortly after his call to minority voters suggesting that they should vote for him because they simply have no other choice. Trump’s brilliant campaign strategy will no doubt capture the support of these voters.
“Our government has totally failed our African American friends, our Hispanic friends and the people of our country. Period,” Trump said in a speech given in Akron, Ohio last month. “What do you have to lose?” Trump asked.
These same friends who are drug dealers, criminals, and rapists?
